Bangkok’s Top Wellness Centers & Luxury Spas

Posted on October 1, 2017

No Thailand luxury tour would be complete without delving into Thailand’s world-class spas and wellness centers. Perfect your downward dog, realign your chakras, awaken your chi, sip a herbal tea, and enjoy a unique spa treatment with our guide to Bangkok’s top yoga, holistic, meditation spaces and luxury hotel spas.

Bangkok Wellness Centers

Rasayana Retreat
Feeling slow and sluggish? Rasayana promises a feel-good fix. Occupying a peaceful garden compound tucked behind the main Sukhumvit drag, this is one of the city’s first raw food and holistic centers, with an enduring rep for its cleansing programs and spa treatments. Cooking is all virtuously animal-, wheat-, gluten- and dairy-free – nibble on larb dip, mock-salmon sushi, courgette carbonara, an angelic version of banoffee pie and other such treats. You can even have Rasayana’s five-daily dishes delivered to your home, hotel or office…

Yoga Elements
Whether you’re a newbie or prodigy, Adrian Cox will have you suitably toned and flexitailed before you can say ‘chakra khan’ at his sunny, spacious studio 5 mins from Asoke Bangkok Train Station. Even fellow teachers drop in to pick up some pointers (and untangle some knots) from this expert India-trained yogi. Pop along around sunrise or sunset for a serene view of the city while you downward dog.

TRIA
Don’t be put off by TRIA’s hospital-like exterior, inside is a luxurious urban sanctuary that’s home to steam baths, in/outdoor pools, infrared saunas, massages and a plethora of expert nip/tuck treatments to boot. Their speciality lies in alternative, holistic and colonic therapies that will have you detoxed and prettified both inside and out.

Shambhala Meditation Centre
This friendly meditation centre practises and teaches Samatha Vipassana: a calming, mindfulness exercise. Originating from the Buddha Shakyamuni, the techniques have been honed to perfection over the last 2,500 years. Every Saturday afternoon, Shambhala hosts a relaxed, guided drop-in meditation and discussion class.

Lotus Rei
Book a private reiki session, take a Kundalini yoga class, or drop the sprogs off for a dedicated kid’s class with Lotus Rei’s leading lady, Melanie. A multilingual expert in holistic therapies and a recognised Master Reiki teacher; Melanie helps you achieve balance (literally and figuratively) within the surrounds of her gorgeous teaky home studio. Ohmmmm.

Bangkok Luxury Hotel Spas

Bangkok’s top luxury hotels, the Peninsula and Mandarin Oriental, feature the finest spas in Bangkok and if you are staying at either, are located directly across the river from each other and may enjoy both during your stay.

Peninsula Bangkok ESPA Spa

Bangkok Peninsula's Luxurious Rooftop Spa Lounge.

Bangkok Peninsula’s Luxurious Rooftop Spa Lounge.

In 2009 the Peninsula Bangkok opened this sprawling 19,070-square-foot multi-million dollar three-story spa building, replete with Thai design elements, including stone walls created patterns of traditional Thai weaving. The spa features an unparalleled space, situated on the infinity pool, a holistic retreat featuring full-day packages that include healthy cuisine, served at the poolside, or on the rooftop with amazing river and city views. The spa echos the feeling of the hotel itself—subdued but luxurious.

Mandarin Oriental

The Oriental Spa features a spacious 21,000 square feet facility, including an Ayurvedic Penthouse. The Mandarin Oriental Spa is known for its innovative offerings, offering unique healing practices from all over Asia.
