Asia Visa Requirements

Please note visa procedures in the region change constantly, please double check with us prior to your departure for the latest requirements. Some destinations, such as Myanmar, may change procedures even more than once in a year. Please check your pre-tour packet and itinerary notes for the most current instructions. Although Indochina may assist in obtaining visas or visa-related documents, traveers are resposible for ensuting they have the necessary documents and are are correct.

Important Note on Passport Dates
Passports must have valid dates for at least six months after your visa is due to expire. Visa offices will still issue a visa for a passport lacking a six month window, but immigration officials in-country, have been known to add fees, delay or disallowing boarding of regional flights for not having this six-month window.

For all visas, confirm the dates of your visa or visa authorization match your dates of travel. We have had travelers denied aircraft boarding or entry into countries when it was found by immigration officers that their entry dates were incorrect.

Bhutan
Please submit a copy of your passport and application form to Indochina Travel two months before travel to Bhutan. Bhutan officials issue an "e-visa" that is recorded into Druk Airlines computer system which allows ticketing and boarding for your flight into Bhutan. Indochina Travel will forward a visa authorization form for your travel as backup.

Vietnam
Note: * Vietnam requires a 2-step process for visas * Indochina Travel will obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) Authorization form which is required to enter Vietnam. After arrival, your visa will be then be processed by immigration officials (at an extra charge). To obtain a visa in advance of arrival (time consuming as you must leave or mail your passport, here are places you may apply):

Visa processing time is about 3-4 days, unless by rush service (overnight).

Cambodia
Indochina Travel typically arranges for your visa in advance, please email a photo of the passport page for each traveler.

Visa in advance is NOT valid for Chau Doc, Vietnam to Phnom Penh, Cambodia overland crossing.

Overland crossing into Cambodia. Travelers have reported surcharges by officials at overland border posts into Cambodia for a variety of fees, but typically ranging from US$1 to $10. Indochina Travel always recommends avoid any argument with officials and simply play any extra fees have been asked for. Officials may delay processing if the fee is not paid upon request.

China (not including Hong Kong)
Please submit a copy of your passport to Indochina Travel two months before travel to China for processing.

Myanmar
Indochina Travel will issue your visa boaut one month before travel. Urgent visas for Myanmar can be in Bangkok (same-day) or Singapore (48 hours). Please contect us for more information.

June 2011 Myanmar Visa Update: Indochina Travel can again arrange for visa (VOA) on arrival in Yangon. Please submit a passport scan or clear digital phtograph of your main passport page to Indochina Tarvel at least three weeks before departure.

If applying for Myanmar visa in advance (not visa on arrival), do not apply more than two months in advance for your Myanmar visa (they will pre-date it too early).Also confirm your visa dates conform to your dates of travel after receiving your documentation.

India
A visa for India requires mailing your passport to the nearest embassy along with two passport-sized photos, visa application form, and US$60. In the US, you must use their private contractor.

Laos
Laos will be processed on arrival in country with VIP agent assistance. A visa in advance may also be obtained by applying at a Laos Embassy or General Consulates in country of residence by submitting your passport, three passport sized photos, and US$50. Canadians and US travelers must use the Washington D.C. Embassy:

Indonesia
A visa can be obtained on arrival for about US$25. In advance, submit your passport, one passport-sized photo, application (above) and money order with return envelope
